TEMÈRIA

MALBECH ROSATO IGT

Originally from France, the Malbech grape gives birth to wines of great character and depth. Towards the end of the 19th century, it found a new home in Puglia, where the Mediterranean climate and fertile soil enhance its characteristics.

Our Malbech rosato, made from hand-picked grapes and cultivated organically, is an exquisite celebration of freshness. It stands out for its brilliant pink color and perfect balance between acidity and softness.

Temerià embodies the boldness and courage of a woman who pursues her dreams without fearing the unknown, determined to craft a wine that surpasses the ordinary and the predictable.

The portrait of a young 19th-century woman shows a tear at eye level, revealing the bottle’s contents—something yet unseen, waiting to be experienced.

This symbolic gesture calls for cutting away the patriarchal notion that women, both then and now, are not free to express themselves. It also represents the tenacity to move beyond the “already seen” and expand horizons with a personal vision, unveiling the essence of a truly great wine.

A STORY WE WRITE TOGETHER WITH YOU

Each vintage is like a chapter in an extraordinary and passionate story, where the work in the vineyard, the changing seasons, and the perception of those who taste our wines are the main characters. When we tell the stories of our wines, we do so year by year, with each chapter introduced by a title that captures the essence of that particular vintage. Each story is unique, yet always true to its own identity.

The history of Temèria

CHAPTER 1

2023: The Year of Challenge

Vintage
The mild winter encouraged an early awakening of the plants, with budding occurring around April 10th.
The cool, rainy spring slowed the development of buds, making it challenging to defend against Peronospora (Downy Mildew). Malbec’s flowering happened in below-average temperature conditions, resulting in fewer berries per cluster. This led to a drop in production but favored the formation of less compact clusters. The high temperatures from late June onwards rapidly degraded the organic acids in the grapes, forcing us to harvest earlier to preserve freshness.
Winemaking
After crushing, a pre-fermentation cryomaceration process is performed for approximately 2 hours at 50-54°F (10-12 °C).
This allows the must to acquire the characteristic coral hue of Malbec rosato. As Malbec is a variety rich in anthocyanins, a brief maceration period is adequate to achieve a vibrant and stable pink color. The must is then allowed to settle for about 36 hours at 50°F (10 °C), enabling suspended particles to precipitate. Once racked, the must is initiated into alcoholic fermentation at around 57-61°F (14-16 °C).
Aging
The wine is aged sur lies in stainless steel tanks for about 6 months.
During this period, weekly battonage is performed to ensure better protection against oxidation. At the end of the aging process, the wine is bottled and rests for another 2 months before release.
